A Few Words

About Us

The Community Resource Collective (CRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community hub serving Pontiac and Oakland County, dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing housing instability, substance use challenges, mental health needs, and other barriers to wellbeing. “We provide a welcoming, judgment‑free space where people can access resources, build relationships, and take meaningful steps toward stability and recovery.”

It’s governed by a formal board and built to do what an LLC structurally cannot: receive grants and charitable funding, hold fiduciary partnerships, and sustain community-benefit programs over the long term. Its mission spans recovery support, homelessness response systems, eviction prevention, and community health across the Oakland County region. Safe Tonight Shelter now operates under CRC as a DBA.

Our Space and Campus Partnership

The CRC operates within a leased portion of The Collective Group, a shared recovery-focused campus.  This shared location strengthens collaboration and ensures individuals can move seamlessly between support services.

Through structured agreements, the CRC maintains independent governance and funding while collaborating closely with The Recovery Collective to offer a continuum of care—from crisis stabilization and basic needs to long‑term recovery.

Our Values

  • Dignity: Every person who walks through our doors is met with respect, compassion, and humanity. We believe dignity is not earned — it is inherent. CRC creates environments where individuals feel seen, heard, and valued, regardless of their past or present circumstances. We honor each person’s story and support their right to move forward without judgment.

  • Compassion: CRC is built on empathy and lived experience. Our team understands crisis, recovery, and instability because many of us have walked similar paths. Compassion guides every interaction — from the first conversation to long‑term support. We listen deeply, respond gently, and offer care that is grounded in understanding rather than assumption.

  • Stability: Stability is the foundation of recovery and growth. CRC helps individuals establish safety, routine, and predictability during times of crisis. Whether through resource navigation, shelter access, or peer support, we focus on creating the conditions people need to regain their footing and begin rebuilding their lives.

  • Community: No one recovers alone. CRC fosters connection through peer support, shared experiences, and community‑centered programs. We create spaces where people can build relationships, find encouragement, and feel a sense of belonging. Community is both a support system and a catalyst for hope.

  • Growth: Every step forward matters — even the small ones. CRC supports personal growth by helping individuals set goals, build skills, and access opportunities that strengthen their future. We celebrate progress, encourage resilience, and walk alongside people as they move toward stability, independence, and long‑term wellbeing.
